HOW
TO REDUCE NEGATIVE MARKING IN EXAMS
MCQ ( Multiple Choice questions) based exams consist of the negative marking scheme.
The main objective behind negative marking in any exam is the elimination of candidates.
Negative markings are not for selection they put in the exam for Elimination and,
You will be surprised to know that in competitive exams like NEET several students face rejection in exams just because they mark a lot of questions with the wrong answer that is negative marking because of several reasons and even though they attempted sufficient questions but because of negative marking they are not able to clear cutoff for the exam.
Believe me, this is one of the most serious issue Aspirants of NEET & IIT-JEE face and I am dead sure you all want the solution to this problem.
However there are several other factors which you have to keep in mind and follow during your throughout preparation which I already shared in my previous post, whats I am going to share with you in this post is not a one-day recipe that today you follow and tomorrow you will see the result you have to do it for some time and gradually after proper practice and applying strategies which I am going to share with you will reduce it and slowly you will start seeing improvement.

HOW TO REDUCE NEGATIVE MARKING IN EXAMS
1.PRACTICE MORE
I am going to explain some of the amazing and verified method to REDUCE negative marking in exams like NEET and IIT-JEE but out of all those methods the first rule I mentioned here is PRACTICE MORE is more important than anything.
Believe me CONFIDENCE IS ONE THING WHICH DON'T COME SIMPLY BY SAYING THAT I HAVE CONFIDENCE, EVEN IT COMES BY DOING.
If you practiced 4000 to 5000 questions before the exam it is not possible you are not going to perform amazingly in the exam because you can solve those questions with much speed and accuracy which you already did before.
If there are some new concept it is more probable that you do a mistake or left unattempted.
When you have sufficient practice before the exam it is very obvious you are going to perform better in the exam.
So PRACTICE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN
"Practice does not make perfect, only Perfect Practice makes Perfect"
2.STAY RELAX
I am insisting this to my dear aspirants and this is one of the most important attitudes we all have to keep during any phase of our life.
Don’t take a lot of pressure before the exam, don’t think you have to fulfil everyone expectation just think you have to be honest with your preparation and belive me If you studied honestly throughout your preparation you are going to do great in the exam and whatever be the exam.
So just STAY RELAX BEFORE THE EXAM, DURING THE EXAM AND AFTER THE EXAM.
There is a very common situation during the exam with our dear aspirants is that when they start solve question paper and if by chance they are not able to solve first two or three questions they get panic and hence their confidence start loose and hence question coming in the sequence they also make it wrong by doing some calculation mistake or some other type of error.
You have to learn it Stay relax whatever be the situation, if you are not able to solve 10 questions in a row one by one don’t get panic just stay relax.
3.DON’T BE OVERCONFIDENT
How much confident you are but remember the rule always read the question carefully never be overconfident in any question.
4.DON” T BE IN HURRY
WHY?
Why so fast why so hurry?
Well in my language its called performance pressure they feel so much pressure that they have to perform better and this pressure makes them feel like this.
And this is one of the most common reasons for negative marking especially with those aspirants who studied enough who have sufficient knowledge and even though they do mistake.
My RULE is
JALDI KARO NAHI, ITNI PRACTICE KARO KI JALDI HONE LAGE
जल्दी करो नहीं इतनी प्रैक्टिस करो की जल्दी होने लगे
5.KNOW YOUR STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS
Like if I talk about exams like NEET and IIT-JEE you have to know out of your syllabus those topics where you are not so confident. Keep those topics in mind and while attempting paper when a question from that topic arise be careful while solving or while skipping.
It is a very common rule what you know you can perform better rather what you don’t know very well.
So always attempt questions from that section which you know very well and latter attempt question from those sections and from those chapters which you don’t know very well.
We can also simplify it in such a way there is no rule like you have to attempt questions sequence wise you can attempt it from anywhere from anyplace just from that section which you know very well.
Either keep in mind a list of all those topics which you know very well or which you know a little or don’t know anything or note them in a paper.
But it must be crystal clear in your mind.
Now Imagine you are attempting questions in the exam hall and suddenly question from that topic appear in front of you which you don’t know just skip it or keep it for last and this you can do by putting a cross sign in front of that particular question.
But if you saw some questions from those topic which you know a little or you had a little practice in those topic keep those question for solving in the second go.
Now using some logic or some elimination try to attempt it but don’t guess answers blindly.
This will surely result in negative marking.
It is wise to accept the reality of skipping questions rather take the risk of attempting questions by simply guessing
6.LEARN TO ANALYSE YOUR MISTAKES
For some aspirants that practice exams are simply exam which they are giving and for some aspirants it is rehearsal.
I would suggest making it rehearsal and don’t give these practice papers because you have to give but attempt those practice papers like that are the FINAL EXAM.
And after every paper, there must be an analysis of the exam.
From which you analyse which type of mistake you are doing? Why there is negative marking?
I did several experiments with students of NEET and IIT-JEE to know the reason of negative marking and I was surprised to know that most of the time they are doing the same type of mistakes all the time and they are just repeating it in all other papers.
Sometimes they know some of their mistakes but even though in next practice paper or in final exam they repeat it again.
Wel answer is very simple
After EVERY PAPER DO ANALYSIS
Take a one A4 size paper and start to write those question number with reason.
For example ..there were a total of 3 questions which you left unattempted or become wrong, just simply note it down
Q1—Unattempted because don’t know topic
Q2—Negative marking because of calculation mistake ( Also mention which calculation mistake you did
Q3—Negative marking because don’t read the question carefully.
There is one golden rule
YOU CAN MINIMIZE YOUR MISTAKE BY KNOWING WHAT MISTAKE YOU ARE DOING
By doing it after every exam believe me, you will improve by 80 to 90 % and I can guarantee you this is the most important step to remove negative marking.
7.BE CAREFUL WHILE FILLING OMR SHEET
After solving all paper when it's time to fill OMR sheet in hurry or buy knowing or without knowing they fill some wrong bubble in the exam or don't fill completely clean even sometimes student mark different option while filling OMR sheet.
Well, this is also one thing which you can improve by practice and like I told you before about analysis after every paper you can also make it part of your analysis and analyses your OMR sheet after every paper and if you are doing mistake in filling it.
8.DON'T ANSWER AT THE LAST MOMENT
Don't do it just simply don't do it.
9.REVISE CONCEPT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
In the same way, you can use SHORT NOTES TECHNIQUES, MIND MAP TECHNIQUES, WALL NOTES TECHNIQUES, OR SIMPLY BY PUTTING IT AS WALLPAPER AND KEEP IT ON MOBILE OR JUST KEEP IT AS WHATSAPP WALLPAPER, and when you follow these techniques look at it all the time and this helps you to revise your concepts several times.
10.CONCLUSION
It's not bad if you are doing negative marking at the start of your preparation for any exam but you have to reduce it gradually and for that, you have to know the reason.
In this post, I shared with you how to reduce negative marking and those who start see the improvement they must reply here so that their suggestions and experiences can be used to modify strategy if necessary, and can be used for benefit of other students/aspirants.
