HOW TO COVER BACKLOGS FOR IIT-JEE & NEET ASPIRANTS

BACKLOGS:- This is one of the most common issue students face during their routine study or during their preparation for some competitive examination like NEET, JEE.

You are studying with strong determination
with amazing willpower but  during your preparation, there are a heap of backlogs of previous topics and now start the real problem.

You start to lose your confidence, start feel the burden of study, and sometimes understanding towards other topics also decreases.

Today in this article I am going to explain how to face the most common issue of backlog and how to overcome this issue easily.

Why Students/Aspirants have Backlogs

Well there can be numerous reasons for this, sometimes the most common reason with serious aspirants are health issue, sometimes they have to attend some family function like marriage or birthday, sometimes they have to go out of the station,  sometimes they are not doing a proper revision (How to revise using SHORT NOTES TECHNIQUES) sometimes they have to do..blablabla.....

but the truth is,

you have backlogs and you are not moving with the same pace as rest of your competitors are moving.

And bigger truth is that when everyone is moving with the pace of the class and completing all syllabus you are not moving at the same pace, it's like you do not synchronise with the class and slowly you start see the reflection of backlogs in your exam marks.

What happens when Students are having backlogs

Let’s Understand it with a logical example

Situation 1

Imagine aspirants are like athletes who are running free with some of their speed.

Exam aspirants

Situation 2

Now imagine a separate situation where the same athlete is running with some heavyweight tied in his/her leg.

What will happen?

Whether Speed will reduce?

Obviously

The same thing happens with our serious aspirants when they are having backlogs it’s like they are chained with these heavyweights of backlogs and their speed reduces.

Hence it’s very important to remove the burden and heavyweight of backlogs as soon as possible.

The worst thing with the backlog is they create mental pressure and lesser confidence inside aspirants mind because of which they  are not able to concentrate what's going on and some times these backlogs topics concept used in the coming topic and hence your understanding towards these topic also become less.

HOW TO COVER BACKLOGS

I strongly believe in

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU WERE,  WHAT MATTERS MOST  IS WHAT YOU ARE

In the same way, It doesn't matter by which reason you have backlog the thing which matter is now you don’t want any backlog now you don’t want it to happen again now you want the same pace with class, now you want to see yourself at the top of the mountain.

STEPS TO COVER BACKLOGS

STEP 1: RELAX AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH

STEPS TO COVER BACKLOGS

Long breathe is amazing,

You are tense just take a long breath

You are anxious before the exam just take a long breath

You want to do effective study just take a long breathe

You are not able to complete your homework just take a long breather

You have backlogs, don’t worry just take a long breath.

Be Relax, if there is a problem there must be the solution and now decide whatever it takes I will complete all my backlogs and will move with the class pace.

STEP 2: STRONG DETERMINATION

STRONG DETERMINATION

I think this is the most important step during your preparation even for anything.

Truly Said

FAILURE WILL NEVER OVERTAKE ME IF MY DETERMINATION TO SUCCEED IS STRONG ENOUGH

Strong Determination and Strong Willpower can create miracle, People with disabilities can climb to the top of Mount Everest if they have Strong determination and Strong willpower to do what they want to.

And this is only Backlog,( you don’t have to climb Mount Everest ryt?).

Take a decision today

( Also Read : HOW TO TAKE EFFECTIVE DECISION

and promise yourself whatever it will take, how much hard work it will demand,  anything I have to do I will do and from today onwards I will complete my backlog and will be with class pace because this year gonna be my year and I will crack this exam anyhow.

Thing like Backlog can not stop me to conquer what I deserve.

You really need Strong Determination, Strong Willpower

DON’T LOOK BACK IN REGRET BUT MOVE ON WITH HOPE, POSITIVE ATTITUDE

STEP 3: NEVER COMPROMISE WITH TODAY

This is the Golden rule to move forward  in any situation which exactly applies in this situation also.

And the Rule is NEVER COMPROMISE TODAY

It’s Okay you are having backlog, but you can’t compromise what’s a teacher is teaching in the class.

Running topic should never be compromised with those backlog topic, you have to find different approach different solution for your backlog topics but you can’t compromise your current topic just because you have backlogs.

It must be very clear to everyone, to all aspirants, that first of all we have to focus on running or current topics.

I remember there was one student who was having a lot of backlogs, During the start of course because of some health issue he was not able to attend classes and he was having backlogs of a few chapters, now when there were separate topics in class he was preparing for backlogs and after some weeks he was completely depressed because he was not understanding current topics and obviously he was losing his backlog topics also. Overall he left with nothing.

All student must be very clear this situation can be very dangerous during your preparation and in any scenario, you can not let these situation arises.

So remember the GOLDEN RULE : NEVER COMPROMISE WITH TODAY

Always focus first on the Current topic, always complete assignment of current topics, always practice questions FIRST from current topics  and plan a separate schedule for BACKLOG but without compromising the current topic.

But if there is some concept from your backlog topic which you need to understand the present topic  just complete only that concept from backlog topic just to understand this present topic but keep in mind you don’t have to understand everything just only those concepts which you need for this present topic.

You can do this with the help of your teachers or friends.

STEP 4: PLAN SEPARATE STUDY PLAN FOR BACKLOG

Now the question in front of us is how to complete backlog without compromising today’s topic.

Well, first of all, you have to understand the problem persisting in front of you and later understand How to resolve it.

It is very important to understand when we are talking about backlogs we have to understand which type of backlogs we are having, because when we understand the problem then only we can find a real solution.

Basically, a Backlog can be classified as  Theoretical, Numerical,  Conceptual, or Whole Chapter /Topic

WHOLE CHAPTER OR TOPIC

If this is the Situation then I would suggest asking your mentor for help or use some recorded lectures or videos to first, understand the basic concept of this chapter and then complete its numerical or practice part because if you try to complete on your own together current topic it will take a lot of time and you know it better you have LIMITED TIME.

NUMERICAL BACKLOG

This type of backlog can be covered only by practice, you have to plan a separate study schedule for solving numerical, questions from previous topics.

THEORETICAL BACKLOG

If you are having backlogs of some theoretical part then you can use SHORT NOTESTECHNIQUES which I have already discussed in my previous post.

For such type of backlogs, SHORT NOTES TECHNIQUES are very effective.

After Identification of the problem you have to remove it and plan a separate Study Schedule to cover these backlogs.

You can plan a separate schedule in your everyday study routine or in every 3-day study routine or on every Sunday or whenever you have a break during your regular class schedule.

But remember these extra hours for backlog should not affect your daily class revision daily homework completion.

It can take time might be possible you get  2 to 3 days break, and in that break you can complete some of your backlog topics or is possible you are doing backlog on every Sunday then it would take 2 to 3 to 4 weeks or is possible you extend your daily schedule and you are studying 2 to 3 hours everyday extra to cover your backlog topic without compromising  your current study schedule might be possible you cover your backlog in 1 week.

It depends on how you plan your backlog study schedule without compromising your current topic you can finish your All  BACKLOG Topic gradually.

But remember never compromise your current study plan, to cover backlog it can take days or weeks or months depends on your study schedule and planning but keep patience and keep studying.

If you want my help on how to plan study schedule Please write in the comment box or you can drop a mail separately.

STEP 5: REVISION PLAN

After Successful completion of your BACKLOG topic, you have to plan for its Revision.

Without revision, you can not get complete command on those topics

You can Read HOW TO REVISE USING SHORT NOTES TECHNIQUE

Most Important Point to keep in mind when you are having Backlogs

1.Never Compromise your present topic

2.DON’T THINK TO MOVE FORWARD YOU HAVE TO KNOW ALL PREVIOUS CHAPTERS VERY WELL

3.Try to revise the present topic in break between the class so that you can plan some extra hours in your daily schedule which you can use to cover the backlog.

4.Select One chapter one topic at a time

5.Select one reliable source to over that backlog topic if you can not complete it with the help of your teacher.

6.When you select a particular topic first, complete it from all aspect that is theoretical & numerical aspect should be covered altogether.

Generally, students do some part now and some part later, this should be avoided. It must be complete in a go.

7.Selection of a topic from the backlog should be a Priority basis that is most important for the exam or for the current topic should be cover first latter less important chapter and so on.

8.Strong determination that you will do whatever it will take to crack this exam.
